• What is hypnosis?

What is hypnosis? We might call it an altered state of consciousness. The hypnotic state is characterised by a sense of relaxation; as a hypnotherapist, I guide clients into a relaxed state of focused attention and direct beneficial suggestions towards their subconscious mind.

During hypnotherapy, the intellectual, evolved part of the brain comes together with the primitive emotional part of the brain and focuses upon the same thing; in this state, the subconscious mind is highly receptive to suggestions framed in metaphorical verbal imagery. Dream-like metaphors are the language of the subconscious mind. During the trance state clients have a heightened concentration that allows them to challenge limiting beliefs, change unwanted behaviours, and gain greater intellectual control over both their emotions and decision-making.

Welcome to my blog

I thought it would be fun to blog about all the latest hypnotherapy news.

At Life Coaching Hypnotherapy we use clinical solution-focused hypnotherapy - so I am fascinated by any news relating to hypnosis.
